Last July 7,  it announced a complete roll out of a cash payment option for all riders in Cebu, #CelebratingCebu is being introduced to enjoin Cebuanos to rediscover their heritage and culture, by experiencing the different sights, flavors, and sounds of the Queen City of the South.


Starting July 8, 2016, Uber will be giving first-time Cebuano riders 50% off on their first five rides until July 17. One simply has to enter the promo code CELEBRATECEBU upon sign up to avail of the discounted rides.

From the exciting food destinations of Crossroads Mall and Streetscape to the historic walls of Basilica del Santo Niño and Museo Sugbo, Uber allows riders to experience the best of Cebu by bringing them to these destinations in a safe, comfortable, and convenient ride.

So far, it is only in Cebu that Uber offers a cash transaction , making it the first in the city.


To avail of this choose the uberX option in the app. Before requesting a ride, change your payment option to cash on the confirmation page. The payment bar is located at the lower half of your screen. Enter your destination and request a ride.

You’ll see your driver’s details straight away–name, photo and the details of the car. These drivers have professional driving licenses and have undergone an extensive screening process.

At the end of your trip, the app will reflect the fare that you need to pay. Hand your payment to your driver and you’ll receive an electronic receipt via email.

Cebu joins Uber Ice cream day

For the first time, Cebuano riders, can take part in one of the world’s largest ice cream socials — Uber Ice Cream.

This year’s Uber Ice Cream will be held in over 400 cities in 69 countries this July 15, and over one million people are expected to join in on the fun, that’s why this year’s theme is “Indulge Together.”

To enjoy this special treat, riders must simply choose the Ice Cream option on the Uber app between 11am to 3pm, input their location, and wait to receive the ice cream within minutes. Runners will deliver four bars of Magnum ice cream for a discounted rate of just P199 and together with the delectable frozen treat every delivery comes with a surprise.

Uber Ice Cream will be available in the following areas within Metro Cebu:

  • Ayala Center Cebu, Cebu City
  • Cebu IT Park, Cebu City

As an additional treat, new riders who sign up for an account now can use the promo code UBERTREATSCEBU to get a free trip worth P200. Riders can also use the said amount to order ice cream on July 15. This promo is valid on July 15, 2016.
