As soon as I get home, all I want to eat is seafood. ~ Quvenzhane Wallis
Being born and raised in the tropical island of Cebu, sea food is a staple in our family banquet table. So when, I was invited by Zomato Cebu for a foodies met up with our host , Blackbeard’s Seafood Island in their newest restaurant in SM Seaside, without second thought I immediately said “Yes.” So, along with my fellow Cebu Bloggers Society food and life style bloggers and Cebu top reviewers and bloggers in Zomato. We head off to their SM Seaside branch located at 3rd Floor, Skypark SM Seaside City Cebu.
Their recently opened branch awestruck me from its spacious dinning area which it that can accommodate up to 300 people. To add, the island vibe in its exterior design and ornaments down to its service staff that wears that warm smile just like from an island lad or lass. We are also fortunate enough to be joined by the Seafood Island big bosses that night.
Just when everyone is seated and settled, the seafood feast commenced.
Boodle fight the Seafood Island way
By definition, Boodle fight style of dining is famous in military distinguishable by long tables prepared with food usually viands, rice and fruits ready to eat with bare hands. However, in Seafood Island they are taking it into the next level. Their boodle is way better than the traditional one, they presented it in a very creative, playful, mouth-watering and above all, blog-worthy-presentation. yes, its picture perfect and ready for some food porn before meal. Right? That night we were served with two of the best boodle in the house : The Camotes Island and the Mt. Apo boodle.
The Camotes Island boodle is one of the underrated boodle among its bunch. For me the well balanced allotment of pork and meat in this boodle set is great. This set has ginataang sa-ang,grilled shrimp and scalloped, crispy crablets, liempo chips, Pork BBQ, Fish of the day and many others. Not to mention, it also include some of every true blue Cebuano comfort foods like fried pork strips , and Larang.
On the other hand, the in demand boodle of all the Mt. Apo. Arranged in somewhat like resembles the great Mt. Apo of Mindanao. This set includes a mountainous of viands like Chicken Binakol, Fried Crabs, Grilled Liempo, Shrimp, Fried Tilapia, Davao’s Balbacua, etc. Visually, this is really tempting but I still prefer the former.
The boodle is perfect for group or family sharing. Although eating this in bare hands in suggest as part of the boodle experience , it is not necessary or compulsory. Also, you can add some ala carte dishes into your boodle if you wish!
Seafood island ala carte parade
After the boodles, a parade of Seafood island sumptuous array of surf and turf dishes bombarded our banquet. To name some the Jumbo Bagnet, Shrimp Laing, Oysters Rockefeller, Pochero, Salted Egg Prawn, Tuna Panga, Liempo chips and lot more. But the stand out for this ala carte menu of Seafood island were:
- Tuna Panga , fresh catch fish make a good dish
- Crab Maritess , the garlic goodness blends well
- Pocherong Tagalog, I love pochero as is but with Sea food island twist love it more
- Seafood Pancit, a must try!
- Salted Egg, there’s something special in this that I love. Later, I learn it is sent straight from Manila.
Look out for Blackbeard’s Seafood Island crab dishes. They are humongous, delicious and additive. They sure will leave your craving, satisfied! You can try Szechuan crab, Crab Lilian, Crab Maritess, Singaporean chili crab Seafood Island version and many more.
